Dear Students, Parents & Carers
The Year 13 leavers photograph was taken this week and copies will be available at the Celebration Assembly on 15 May at 9.50am in the Hall and on A Level results day in August. Study leave for Year 13 starts on Monday 20 May, but BTEC subjects may still have coursework to complete. Teachers will inform students of their expectations.
Tickets are available for the Prom (Thursday 27 June) at Quay Arts. They cost £30 and include food, entertainment and the DJ. Tickets can be bought through Arbor (see reception if you are struggling to pay £30 in one go). ‘Plus one’ tickets will be available after 20 May, See Mr Mumford or Mr Cody to request these.
There will be a Year 12 assembly on Thursday 16 May at 9.50am that all Year 12 need to attend. We will be talking about exams, work experience, our Careers Fair, mock interviews, end of term arrangements and the “Call it Out” campaign.
The Upper Common Room and the Library are being set up for exams as I’m writing this and therefore will be out of use for students until July and the end of Year 12 trial exams.
Finally, all schools have received an alert from the National Crime Agency and I would like to draw your attention to some information that is being provided by the Isle of Wight Safeguarding Children Partnership. Nationally, a significant theme of concern has been the rise in child sexual abuse. To quote from the work they have carried out, whether we are staff in school, parents or carers “we can no longer stay silent on this issue. We have to talk about it and act.” To help us all, they have produced some resources to help everyone improve on identifying victims, enacting protection and suggesting ways to support victims, survivors and their families. Below you will find the resources that this partnership have created specifically aimed at parents and carers. Can I please ask you to take time to have a look over these.
Enjoy a (hopefully) sunny weekend,
Mr Mumford
